Columnist
I was asked by the editor of In the Moment magazine to write a series of four columns for its Creativity section over four issues, discussing topics as diverse as confidence, balance and courage. The brief was to share personal anecdotes and I really enjoyed drawing on my time as editor of Mollie Makes and Oh Comely to share some stories I hadn't put in writing yet. A few readers got in touch to tell me they'd found these pieces very relatable, which was affirming!
About me
I'm an editor and writer with 20 years' experience creating and commissioning print and digital content, leading teams and developing brands. My most recent editorship was Sarah P. Corbett's Craftivist Collective Handbook, out in May 2024. Published by crowd-funding pioneers Unbound, it's a gorgeous coffee table book combining craft and activism from one of the genre's leading voices. I've also just finished a stint as managing editor for Food Lifestyle magazine, relaunching in Spring 2024 and am overseeing the Indy Coffee Guide series.
On the newsstand, I edited Project Calm, a quarterly title about mindfulness through making. Before that, I edited much-loved indie title, Oh Comely. I spent three years editing craft magazine, Mollie Makes. I also did some work for Annie Sloan's The Colourist as a commissioning editor and features writer.
Before editing, I spent seven years as a sub editor and production editor for history and food titles. I've also consulted on a number of books and provide copywriting services for companies such as Etsy and Prezola.
