I was asked by the editor of In the Moment magazine to write a series of four columns for its Creativity section over four issues, discussing topics as diverse as confidence, balance and courage. The brief was to share personal anecdotes and I really enjoyed drawing on my time as editor of Mollie Makes and Oh Comely to share some stories I hadn't put in writing yet. A few readers got in touch to tell me they'd found these pieces very relatable, which was affirming!
Managing editor roles
Recently I've been asked to carry out a managing editor role on a range of titles, which typically involves either overseeing the magazine process while the editor works on other projects or managing a title that functions as more of a handbook than a magazine, with a large amount of data to editorialise and cross-reference, such as the Indy Coffee Guide series.
Each year, I join the HomeStyle and Your Home teams at Our Media to manage their Christmas specials which includes liaising between production and art staff, keeping the process on track and cross-referencing across each title to ensure we avoid duplicating imagery or information.
